Intro
Hi! We’re the Leeds University Vegetarian and Vegan Society. This year we’ll be hosting meals out, a sushi making workshop, a smoothie taster session and much more. Feel free to come along if you’re vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, or a meat eater who loves veggie food!

Recommendations
Town Centre:
Global Tribe Café – In the centre of town, this small but perfectly formed café offers a wide range of vegetarian and vegan dishes, raw food and gluten free options. Come here for lunch, as it closes at 6pm. 18 Swan St, LS1 6LG Hansa’s – Leeds’ most prestigious vegetarian restaurant, the award-winning Gujarati cuisine that Hansa’s offers is both exciting and delicious - and affordable to boot, with a main and starter for around £10. 72-74 North St, LS2 7PN Balti King – It may be on the Otley Run route, and prone to being filled with rowdy drinkers hankering for a curry, but Balti King’s vegetarian menu is almost unparalleled for the sheer number of dishes. When going in, ask for the vegetarian menu, and try to decide between the four or five options they have for each type of curry. They also do takeaways. 69 Raglan Rd, LS2 9DZ Little Tokyo – A fabulous Japanese restaurant tucked away at the bottom of town which offers a wide range of vegetarian and vegan dishes, including vegetarian chicken legs and ‘Bentō boxes’. Be prepared to eat with chopsticks only and dine with Koi fish! 24 Central Rd, LS1 6DE Neon Cactus – Neon Cactus, a Mexican restaurant and bar on Call Lane, offers a vegetarian option for each type of dish they do, and the ‘Feast’ menu – four plates for £12 – can’t be missed. Their tequila cocktails are also fantastic. 35 Call Lane, LS1 7BT Las Iguanas – This popular Latin chain has an alternative vegetarian menu, making it a great place to go with meat-eating family and friends. Many of the dishes can be made vegan or glutenfree. 3 Cloth Hall Street, LS1 2HD |
Hyde Park and Headingley:
Café Lento - Café Lento, in Headingley, offers a nice range of hot and cold sandwiches, salads, and drinks, many of which are vegetarian and could be made vegan. Their vegetarian full English breakfast is perfect for a hangover. 21A North Ln, LS6 3HW Grove Café – 16 vegan pizzas. Need we say more? Grove Café’s highly impressive range of vegetarian and vegan pizzas is only part of its appeal, as they also offer a vegan ‘cheeseburger’ and number of curry dishes. 133-135 Cardigan Rd, LS6 1LJ Mint Café – For fans of Mediterranean and Lebanese food, Mint Café in Headingley provides a selection of salads, sandwiches and wraps, the majority of which are vegetarian or vegan. They also have an impressive range of teas and coffees, and their ingredients are sourced locally where possible. 33 North Ln, LS6 3HW Heart Café – While not exclusively veggie, this affordable café serves very good portions and has a friendly atmosphere. Come here Monday to Wednesday or Saturday and enjoy a wrap, sandwich, pie or salad in the courtyard. Bennett Rd, LS6 3HN |
